Animation Mentor!

So I decided to really focus on animation now and joined Animation Mentor School. I'm almost done with Term 1, and soon I'll be posting the little reel of the Basic Foundations term.
My mentor is Greg Rizzi, he works for Blue Sky Studios and he is an excellent teacher. Check out his blog -> http://gregrizzi.blogspot.com/
AM is an amazing school and I'm really glad I'm part of it now.

Ícaro WIP

Image done for playlore's website

This image was made about a year ago in Playlore studio. We did it for the website (http://www.playlore.com/), but I believe they have changed it by now :). I modeled the guy's mesh and the rock and detailed them in mudbox/zbrush, then assembled and rendered the scene in maya. Gustavo Galvão was the art director and did the photoshoping like usual. All the accessories were modeled by Gustavo, Antonio Junior, George Brayner and Eduardo Fernandes.

Badbird poster

This guy was pretty cool to work with. Again done in Playlore for the company's portfolio. The 2d concept was made by Rael Lyra, check out his blog, this guy is amazing! http://raellyra.blogspot.com/
I was responsible for the main body modeling and uvs, all the scene assembling in maya, the shading and rendering. The gun was modeled by the superfast Edgagare, the art direction was once again by Gustavo Galvão along with a lot of the textures. I can only remember that almost everybody helped with the accessories and uvs. One day we have to pose this guy!

Main body model

This is my part of the modeling, the mask was modeled by playlore's artist Dalton.

Badbird

Angus render

My first task when I joined Playlore's team was to model this guy. That was fun. I worked together with my good friend George Brayner. I modeled the face and did the shading and rendering in maya. George made the 2d concept, modeled the accessories in max and painted the color map in zbrush/photoshop.

The final mesh!

This is the character from my short film. After doing the research below thats the result, if I don't change my mind again and tweak it.

Here is a 3d sketch done in mudbox

I decided to go with this one!

Short film research

Here is some research I've done for the character from the short film. I'm not really good at drawing, so I needed a lot of references. Many are based on the art of other bloggers, books and my own too. These are the ones I liked the most.

Alien plant for my short film

Don't watch this!!!!!!!

Riggig Reel Felipe Sanges 2006 -

This is one old demo reel I made in 2006. I know there are some embarrassing stuff in it, but it shows how I started in 3d animation and some rigging that I did back then. I hope I'll have time to work on a new demo soon.

Here is an update of an old model I've done last year in playlore. I've made many changes, but its still a WIP

Darkseid redesign

Ingame model Kalahagon

This project was one of the first characters we've done in Playlore. I shared all the modeling with George Brayner and Gustavo Galvão. They also painted the color map.
